What is the NAG?

Neighbourhood Action Groups, or NAGs, are volunteer working groups made up of representatives from the local community. They include residents, police, local authorities and other organisations, such as local businesses and schools. They are key to the success of neighbourhood policing. The NAG will raise issues on behalf of the community and organise for tasks to be completed.

The NAG is accountable locally for responding to problems identified by the community. Problems may be identified at public meetings, through surveys, face-to-face meetings or by mail, or a combination of methods.

We will try to deal with any issue the community raises. This might be anti-social behaviour, car parking issues, litter, dog fouling, speeding, the condition of local footpaths and roads - anything which local people consider to be a problem.

We can't guaratnee to solve the problem, but we will raise your issues with the appropriate local authority or organisation, and do everything we can to ensure a succssful outcome.

The NAG has been actively involved in the following:

Funding for new play equipment at Digby ParkRoad crossing outside Robert Sandilands School. Parents are now able to park at the Starting Gate pub when collecting their children New Railings at the local park to prevent vandallism, and the provision of better lighting Dispersal Order in Shaw Park to reduce anti-social behaviour  Relocation of dog bins to encourage people to clean up after their pets Regular police speed checks in the area, helping to reduce speeding, especially along Grove Road, Castle Grove and Almond Avenue Anti-Social behaviour at Shaw Church stopped

What sort of issues do we deal with?

What have we achieved so far?
